US Forces Targeted a 'Large Facility' in Venezuela, President Trump Stated Without Providing Details.

Former President Donald Trump has claimed that US forces hit a "major facility" in Venezuela in recent days. However, the former president withheld information about the exact purpose or location of the target, and there has been no additional comment from his team.

Unspecific Comments Made During a Radio Show

"We just eliminated – I'm not sure if you heard – they have a large facility, where the vessels originate. Recently, we destroyed it. So we hit them with significant force," Trump allegedly told Republican donor and businessman John Catsimatidis in a recent interview.

Potential Significance of a Confirmed Attack

If a US strike is verified, it would constitute the first ground target hit since the Pentagon initiated a expansion of US military presence in the Caribbean region to halt drug traffickers that the former administration asserts operate under the authority of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

The initial mission of the military buildup has evolved into a blockade aimed at hindering the nation's oil exports.

Online Video and Official Claims

Trump has for weeks stated that US forces are prepared to widen the operations by hitting targets within Venezuela, a strategy that would in theory require congressional authorization.

A clip shared on social media on 24 December appeared to show an explosion reportedly from an industrial area in a Venezuelan state. But, the video or the site in question has not been confirmed by third parties.

An administration official allegedly told a news network that the president was referring to a narco-trafficking site in his remarks.

Response and Ongoing Military Situation

The Maduro government has not commented on the incident the former president described. Additionally, there have been no corroborating news from Venezuela concerning it.

The buildup of American forces in the area – a posture some have called a maritime "quarantine" – constitutes the most expansive naval operation of the Trump era.

Sources have stopped short from labeling the action as a blockade, but have acknowledged that about 15,000 service members are positioned across the Caribbean and the Gulf, including a aircraft carrier group, F-35 aircraft, and Coast Guard cutters to uphold current sanctions.
